Some frequently asked questions
1. The Show
What's it all about then?
A high quality, wide-ranging multi-period historical show, staged on behalf of Broadlands, interpreting history through the ages. Enjoy re-enactments, living history and music in this very picturesque setting.
Is the event suitable for families and small children?
Absolutely. There will be a huge variety of displays and activities to enjoy.
Is the show the same each day?
Yes it is, but do try to come on Saturday as you might enjoy it so much that you'll want to come back on the Sunday. There's so much to see, with at least two and usually three displays happening simultaneously in different locations, that you may prefer to plan a two day visit to enjoy it all!
Is it photogenic?
You bet. The displays are designed to look as good as possible.
Will there be a programme?
Broadlands will be producing a free programme.
2. Getting there
Is Broadlands easy to find?
Yes it is. Broadlands is on the A3090 Romsey by-pass, ½ mile from Romsey town centre. The M27 motorway runs 3 miles from Broadlands providing excellent motorway and trunk road links in all directions - Central London is only 2 hours from Broadlands via the M3 and M27 motorways. Drivers should leave the M27 motorway at Junction 3 if approaching from the North and East, or Junction 2 if approaching from the West, and follow the signs to Broadlands. Map
3. Admission to the event
Admission prices are very reasonable, please revisit for exact prices once confirmed. Parking is free.
4. Facilities
Is the event disabled-friendly?
The ground is nearly all flat, so suitable for most disabled visitors. Some living history areas are located within trees so care should be taken when visiting them.
What facilities are available?
Catering and toilets are available.
Are picnics allowed?
Yes. But we also have a variety of catering available on site. Visitors are asked to take their litter home or place them in the bins provided, to help keep Broadlands tidy (and safe for the deer, small animals and birds that live here).
Is there overnight camping?
We regret that there is no visitor camping or caravan spaces, or overnight facilities. If you would like to camp in the area, please refer to the local Tourist Information Centre for details of the nearest camp sites.
Re-enactors and performers will be camping in period or modern tents.
5. Taking part
How will participating re-enactors find out what is happening?
EventPlan will send full advance details to all participating groups for distribution to members.
We are re-enactors. Can we take part?
6. Traders
EventPlan invite quality historical traders/demonstrators to take part. Please read trading opportunities and then contact us if you would like to participate.
